Barriers and stereotypes: Why people avoid psychological help

The study “Barriers and Stereotypes: Why People Avoid Psychological Help,” conducted by the Research Laboratory Rating Lab and the Institute for Behavioral Studies American University Kyiv in April 2024, focuses on attitudes toward sources of information about psychological support, levels of trust and stress among respondents, and the methods that help them improve their psychological state.

53% of Ukrainian teenagers engage in risky behaviour despite being well-informed about risks posed by mines and unexploded ordnance UNICEF study

Kyiv, 6 June 2024 — A study conducted by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Rating Group on explosive ordnance risk awareness and safe behaviour practices among Ukrainian parents and children aged 10 to 17 has revealed that boys aged 14 to 17 (62 per cent) and adolescents from rural areas and low-income families demonstrate the riskiest behaviours. Despite 97 per cent of adolescents surveyed claiming to be aware of mine safety rules, risky behaviour remains prevalent. The study, conducted by UNICEF and the Rating Group research company as part of European Union (EU) humanitarian assistance, took place from March to April 2024 across 27 areas contaminated by landmines and unexploded ordnance.

Rating of Ukrainian regions by local wellbeing index

We present the first rating of Ukrainian regions according to the Local Well-Being Index (LWBI - Local Well-Being Index), the author's development of the Rating Lab research laboratory and implemented on the Rating Online research platform.

Dynamics of psycho-emotional states of the population

Peak, the highest values of resilience appeared at the beginning of the Russian invasion, in April 2022. They then declined the most in March 2023 and have now stabilised. The highest resilience is among the older generation, 50+. Citizens of the Luhansk region have the lowest resilience, while residents of the Zakarpattia region have the highest. Young Ukrainians experience the most positive emotions, but they are not sustainable.

Duration of stay abroad, assessment of living conditions, comparison of opportunities and sectors, as well as levels of bureaucracy and corruption. Employment rate, job placement, evaluation of Western aid, and factors influencing the decision to stay in the country or return to Ukraine.

Attitude of young people to the own business: Ukraine and the EU

Мajority of the Ukrainian respondents prefers self-employment and own business. In the EU, unlike Ukraine, youth mostly pursuits to work an employee.

Women's opportunities in Ukraine

In Ukraine, gender balance and equality, the "visibility" of women in traditionally male spheres is perceived more consciously and the situation is gradually improving - women's opportunities are expanding. However, legislative changes, additional attention to transparency in remuneration, implementation of objective, unbiased practices for evaluating candidates for positions, adaptation of the world of work, politics, and military affairs to a person who can be anyone, not only a man, would contribute improvement of the situation.
